Read about our evaluation process, report delivery times, and how to refer a claim to our Cedar Rapids, Johnston, or Davenport locations in Iowa.
What types of medical evaluations are offered by Probity Medical Services?
Dr. Jeffrey Westpheling provides Independent Medical Evaluations, permanent partial impairment ratings using the AMA Guides 5th edition, medical record reviews, causation analysis, and written IME rebuttals. Services are for Iowa workers' compensation only.
How is an Independent Medical Evaluation different from regular care?
An IME is a one-time, objective assessment to clarify injury cause, diagnosis, or impairment. Probity does not provide follow-up care or ongoing treatment, ensuring each evaluation remains impartial and unbiased.
Where are your evaluation sites and how do I set up an appointment?
Appointments are available in Cedar Rapids (Monday to Friday), Johnston (third Tuesday monthly at Regus, blue awning), and Davenport (first Tuesday monthly at Wyffels Hybrids, Suite 200). Email info@probityime.com with your preferred city.
What is the typical cost for an Independent Medical Evaluation?
The average total fee for an IME is $2,100. A detailed fee schedule can be provided if requested. No prepayment is needed for services at any of our Iowa locations.
How soon will I receive the evaluation report after the appointment?
Reports are usually completed and sent within one to two weeks after the evaluation. Probity is known for timely turnaround, helping adjusters and attorneys keep cases moving forward.
What records should be sent and where should they be submitted?
Send all relevant medical records electronically to info@probityime.com or by mail to PO Box 127, Marion, IA 52302. Do not mail anything to the Cedar Rapids, Johnston, or Davenport offices, as they cannot accept mail.
Does Probity Medical Services accept referrals from both sides of a claim?
Yes, referrals come from insurance adjusters, attorneys, and case managers.
Can Dr. Westpheling provide ongoing care or take over treatment for claimants?
No. Probity Medical Services only conducts one-time evaluations for workers' compensation. Ongoing treatment, follow-ups, or care management are not provided, to maintain objectivity and follow Iowa IME guidelines.
